We Replaced Our Daily Standup With a Single Entangled Status Update

After a controlled pilot, we have eliminated the daily standup entirely. In its place, the engineering team now maintains a single entangled status field. When any one teammate updates their status, the statuses of all other teammates resolve instantaneously, regardless of distance, time zone, or whether they were paying attention. The fifteen-minute meeting has been replaced by an event of literally zero duration.

Skeptics, including our own compliance office, raised the obvious concern: does this allow faster-than-light transmission of information? It does not. While the statuses correlate instantly, no manager can use them to send an actual instruction without a classical channel — typically a follow-up message that begins 'quick thing.' Causality, and therefore our SOC 2 posture, remains intact.

Productivity metrics are encouraging, though hard to interpret. Time spent in meetings is down 100%. Time spent explaining the entangled status field to new hires is up by an amount we have chosen not to entangle with the first figure.
